BIA Home Improvement Program
Purpose:  Home Improvement, renovation, and replacement

Criteria/Guidelines: 

  • Must complete Application

  • Be from a federally recognized tribe

  • Be enrolled

  • Own or have a 25 year lease on land (must provide documentation) 

  • Must meet federal poverty level

  • Must live in our Service Area (Whatcom County)

  • Average wait period for process: 7-9 months

Nooksack Home Improvement Program
Purpose:   Safety and Health Problems

Criteria/Guidelines:

  • Must fill out and complete Application

  • Nooksack Tribal member

Priority Level:

  • Elderly

  • Disabled

  • Employed (must sign payback agreement)

Amount Allocated:
$2000.00 a month (one time service only)

Indian Health Service(IHS)
Purpose: Potable water and Septic Systems

Criteria/Guidelines:

  • Must fill out and complete Application

  • Own your own land (need documentation)

  • Have power on land

  • Enrolled in any federally recognized tribe

  • One time service only

  • Average wait is up to 18 months to complete
